Arkle Resources' first drillhole at Mine River intersects gold

Irish gold and zinc explorer Arkle Resources has reported positive results from the drilling programme at its Mine River Gold Project.

The company said the 12 hole diamond drilling programme at its 100% owned Mine River Gold Project in Wicklow/Wexford intersected gold at five intervals.

Arkle, which was previously known as Connemara Mining, said the drilling programme forms part of its work along the target trend, which covers over 15 kilometres.

It said it follows magnetic anomalies delineated from airborne geophysical data, which are interpreted to be associated with sulphide mineralisation tied to the known gold trend.

The first three holes are in a new area about 750 metres west of the known Tombreen gold discovery.

Arkle said its rig has now been moved along strike toward Tombreen, which has shown "substantial mineralised thickness" and previous drilling had indicated significant strata-bound gold mineralisation.

Arkle chairman John Teeling said this was a "significant result" which further strengthens the company's confidence in the Mine River project.

"The first hole intersected the vein at depth and shows it to carry gold. The following two holes were targeted to intersect the vein along strike," John Teeling said.

"Visual inspection of the core in these two holes indicates that the vein has been intersected. Analyses of the core from these holes will take about three weeks and we expect regular newsflow as we now move toward the Tombreen discovery," he added.
