Gino's Gelato has opened its 20th shop in Westport in Co Mayo this month and also plans to open in eight new locations across Ireland in the coming year.
A shop in Tramore in Co Waterford is also due to open at the end of the month.
Despite more than a year under the difficult confines of a global pandemic, the company has opened four new stores since June of last year.
It also recruited 50 new staff last year and plans to add an additional 140 to their workforce in 2021. This will bring its total staff numbers to over 400 by the end of the year.
Fully Irish owned, Gino's was founded by second generation ice-cream men, Jonathan Kirwan and Anthony Murphy in 2008.
Managing director and co-owner Anthony Murphy said that while the past year has been challenging for many small businesses including Gino's, he feels the company has adapted well.
"We are delighted to expand Gino's Gelato footprint further into the West of Ireland in 2021. Westport is somewhere we have been planning to open a Gino's store for some time and we are thrilled to now make the dream a reality and are getting fantastic local support and feedback so far," he added.
