The amount of unleaded petrol cleared by Revenue rose by 33% in March compared to the previous month, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
According to the CSO, the increase is a clear sign of more household car traffic as Covid-19 restrictions begin easing.
However, it still marks the lowest amount cleared in March since the series began in 2000.
The amount of auto diesel cleared also rose by 22.6% in March, the CSO said today.
