Co Cork-based Silver Pail Dairy has secured a €1.4m contract to supply ice cream to Tesco Ireland.

The deal means the Fermoy firm's products will be used across Tesco Ireland's range of own brand tubs, blocks and pints of ice cream.

Silver Pail is a family business and employs 90 people in Fermoy.

It was founded in 1978 by Michael Murphy and has grown to become the largest independent ice cream manufacturer in Ireland.

Tesco purchases €1.6 billion of Irish food and drink annually, including over €900m in exports.
