The Trinity Business School at Dublin's Trinity College has become "triple-accredited" having received accreditation from AACSB International.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is an American professional organisation.

It is described as the world's largest business education alliance, connecting educators, learners, and businesses.

According to its website, AACSB-accredited schools must pass very rigorous quality standards and have been proven to provide the best in business education worldwide.

The latest accolade puts the Trinity Business School in the top 0.6% of business schools globally.

As well as this latest seal of approval, the school has accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and EQUIS, described as the most comprehensive institutional accreditation system for business and management schools.

It joins the UCD Smurfit Business School as the only business schools in Ireland to hold what is referred to as the 'triple crown' of accreditation from the three centres of business and academic excellence.

"If Dublin really wants a sustainable position as a world class centre for digital technology business and have a financial centre, then the coming of age of Trinity Business School with Triple Accreditation is hugely positive news both for Dublin and global competition," Professor Andrew Burke, Dean of Trinity Business School said.

Meanwhile, NUI Galway's J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics has also secured accreditation by AACSB International.

The association commended school for its growth and development over the past five years, delivering excellence in business education, research and impact.

"Achieving this accreditation is recognition of the global standard that J.E. Cairnes School of Business School & Economics has met in specific and recognisable measurements of business education excellence, including areas such teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning," President of NUI Galway Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh said.

The accreditations from AACSB are valid five years after which a subsequent reaccreditation visit it carried out.
