Homecare tech firm PacSana raises €650k to expand to US market

Irish homecare technology company PacSana has completed a fundraising round of €650,000, to help grow the business in the US.

The company which was established in Dublin just over two years ago, produces devices to help prolong independent living for older and vulnerable people.

It offers homecare companies the use of wearable technology, to help them improve the level of care for thier customers.

The company's signature product is its PacSana bracelet, which provides 24/7 data on movement and activity that can be monitored remotely.

PacSana is currently working with care providers in Ireland and the UK and now has plans to expand to the US, which has a $96.9 billion homecare market.

The investment round was led by entrepreneur and businessman Dr Frank Dolphin, the President and Founder of the international health services company RelateCare and a former Chairman of the HSE.

It included several private investors including Howard Roberts, part of the leadership team involved in the recent sale of IT services company Arkphire.

The company said the funding will be used to hire additional staff, including a Head of Care and additional resources for US operations.

"Now more than ever older people need enhanced health support and ways of staying connected which PacSana's products can provide," said CEO Feargal Duignan.

"We are delighted to have attracted new investors to support the company’s continued growth and our expansion plans into the US market," he added.

Frank Dolphin, investor and advisor to PacSana said that supporting home and family carers with technology and insights is one of the biggest health and social care challenges.
