71% of businesses expect higher revenue this year compared to 2020, according to a report by Mazars, the international audit, tax and advisory firm.

Their 2020 C-suite barometer, which was conducted in the third quarter of last year, reveals that firms are generally optimistic about the future.

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, the report states that 58% of businesses expected to end 2020 with revenue higher than 2020.

The report found a more negative outlook from the 40 additional respondents in the pulse survey carried out in the final quarter of last year, with more executives concerned that their revenue will fall in 2021 than previously.

Respondents from Latin America have the most optimistic outlook, with 91% saying they have a 'positive' outlook for growth this year, well above the global average of 71%.

Moving forward, business leaders predict economic and technology-related trends will have the biggest impact on their business.

90% of businesses said they feel equipped to respond to advances in technology.

On the issue of climate change, just 20% of respondents globally said they expected this trend to have the biggest impact on their business - the lowest on the list.

According to the findings, executives expect to undertake significant transformation over the next three to five years, including technology transformations, performance improvement-related transformations, and the development of new services, markets and business models.
