Aldi has confirmed it will open a new store in Clonakilty in Co Cork in 2022.

Aldi said it has received final planning permission for the store at the Waterfront in the town, which will create 25 permanent jobs once opened, as well as 80 jobs during the construction phase.

The company already has 23 stores across Cork city and county.

The new environmentally-friendly store will be powered by 100% green electricity and will see two free-to-use electric charging points installed outside.

Aldi employs over 4,500 people and operates a network of 145 stores across the country, with stores in each county in the Republic of Ireland.

Colin Breslin, Aldi Regional Managing Director, said the new Clonakilty store will bring great value to the doorsteps of locals who previously had to travel to shop at Aldi.
