New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that overseas travel in November remained dramatically lower than the same month last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, with travel each way sinking by over 92%.
The CSO reported a total of 103,900 arrivals and 96,800 departures last month.
This marked a slump of 92.3% and 92.7% respectively on the figures of 1,351,400 arrivals and 1,328,400 departures in November of last year.
Today's figures also show that the number of arrivals and departures in November were down 35.4% and 40.7% on the October figures.
The CSO said that continental routes contributed most to the passenger traffic in November.
Some 54,700 passengers arrived on continental routes and 47,100 passengers departed on continental routes.
Meanwhile, 38,800 passengers arrived on cross-channel routes and 39,600 passengers departed on cross-channel routes.
Just 4,700 passengers arrived on transatlantic routes and the same number of passengers departed on these routes last month, the CSO added.
For the first 11 months of 2020, a total of 4,295,800 people arrived in Ireland from overseas and 4,273,800 people departed - decreases of 77.1% and 77.3% respectively compared to the same time last year.
