Wellington IT, the technology partner to the Irish credit union sector, has launched its new cloud service to enable credit unions to automate and digitise their operation and member services.
This is the next step in the company's ambition to help client branches meet the World Council of Credit Unions aim to fully digitise the sector by 2025.
The software is the first to offer full 24/7 access to credit union services and accounts online.
The company said cloud customers can expect to save up to 40% on IT costs, when compared to using on-premises machines.
Dublin’s Member First Credit Union was one of the first to adopt the cloud platform.
Trevor Montgomery, Members First Credit Union's IT Manager, said their digital transformation strategy has been "massively accelerated" by the migration to Wellington IT’s private cloud.
"Our six branches can now connect independently, so should one branch go down, the others won’t be affected.
"The most obvious benefit I have noticed is the speed with which processes are now completed.
"Transactions, reporting and even our end of year routines can now be carried out in half the time required in the past," he said.
Declan Colfer, Managing Director with Wellington IT, said they are assisting the credit union sector here in Ireland to adopt all technological advancements to properly cater for members' expectations.
"Our software enables our clients to integrate branches and share data while offering more insightful analytics to expedite informed decision-making.
"For credit union members, it offers convenient access to all credit union processes online," he said.
