The CIÉ Group, has has said it is delighted to support the trialling of the first ever Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle in public transport in Ireland.
Commencing with Bus Éireann and subsequently Dublin Bus, the CIE group said the trial is one of a range of initiatives underway which will place low emissions technologies at the heart of public transport delivery.
In a statement, the group said it considers this trial to be an important step towards delivering solutions for the Programme for Government commitment to achieve 7% reduction of green house gas emissions annually.
The Hydrogen Mobility Ireland trial, in conjunction with the Department of Transport, will also be followed by the National Transport Authority trial of three FCEVs in 2021.
CIÉ Group Chief Sustainability Officer Caoimhe Donnelly, said of the trial underpins the commitment of the CIÉ Group of companies to progressing low emission solutions for transport.
"Delivering the trial forms an important part of the CIÉ Sustainability Strategy 2020 and to address our national economic, social and environmental challenges," she said.
