Jobs site Indeed has announced a new set of flexible work options for its employees worldwide, including for its more than 1,000 Irish staff.
These options include working completely from home, hybrid work from home and work from the office, and full time in the office.
Indeed said that while remote work is not ideal for everyone, the company has learned that its employees can be equally productive working at home and that flexible work options give everyone a better quality of life.
It said that after considerable due diligence, including reviewing every role, it has agreed on the following categories for how the company will work in the future - completely remote, hybrid work from home/work from the office, and full time in the office.
Indeed said that workers will be notified of which category their role is in and will choose how they want to work.
"The vast majority of employees will qualify for hybrid work or fully remote, and all of Indeed remains remote until July 2021," the company added.
Indeed first asked its 10,000 global staff to work from home in early March.
Since then it has introduced a range of new measures to support its staff working remotely, such as monthly paid company-wide days off so that employees can take a break during what is a stressful time for many and it also offers unlimited time off to staff.
Indeed also offers staff work from home reimbursement, which is valued up to $1,000, to help create a comfortable work from home environment. This also covers items related to wellness, such as fitness equipment and meditation apps.
Indeed said it has no plans to switch permanently to an entirely remote workforce and offices will reopen when it is safe to do so.
"Indeed plans to prioritise certain employees when returning to the office, for example those who have expressed a high degree of eagerness to come back to the office and have indicated hardship factors with working from home," the company added.
