Aldi Ireland has agreed a new €3m deal with Dublin-based Pizza Sorrento to supply all its 143 Irish stores.

The new contract will see Pizza Sorrento supply Aldi with over 2.5 million handmade original and sourdough twin pack pizza bases over the next two years.

The agreement follows a successful product trial in some of Aldi's stores and the pizzas will now be available nationally in each of Aldi's stores around the country.

Based in East Wall in Dublin, Pizza Sorrento was set up in 2012 by Giorgio Lisi and Stephen Carr.

After learning his trade in the family bakery in Sorrento, Giorgio came to Ireland and set up Pizza Sorrento, whch now creates authentic Italian stone-baked pizza bases and pizza sauces based on his own family recipes.

The new Aldi deal has resulted in the creation of two new jobs at Pizza Sorrento, adding to its team of 13.

It has also enabled the company to invest in bespoke machinery, including a new packaging machine.

Pizza Sorrento has seen its production levels rise by 30% since it began working with Aldi.
