Danish home retail brand JYSK has announced the merger of JYSK Ireland and JYSK UK to form one organisation.

The company has opened seven stores in Ireland over the last year. It has further expansion plans for the next 12 months, including the opening of the brand's first store in Dublin in October.

Founded in Denmark in 1979 by Lars Larsen, JYSK has expanded to 51 countries with more than 2,800 stores worldwide, employing 23,000 people, in the past four decades.

The Country Manager for Ireland, Roni Tuominen, has been appointed the new Country Manager for Ireland and the UK.

"With one combined organisation based on our strong JYSK values, we will strengthen our competencies within retail and lower the costs of the two countries' operations," Roni Tuominen said.

"This will make it possible for us to significantly speed up our expansion and reach the turnover we need for solid financial results in both countries," he added.
