Danish retail chain JYSK is due to open its first Dublin store in October, in Gulliver's Retail Park in Northwood, Santry.

The deal, brokered by Cosgrave Property Group, was completed on 8 June, with fit-out works starting just one week later on 15 June.

The company has signed a ten-year lease on a 7,667 sq ft unit and planning has already been granted to almost double the square footage by adding a 6,600 sq ft retail mezzanine level.

The global brand, which specialises in household goods such as furniture and interior décor, already has seven outlets across Ireland.

Recruitment for their Sligo unit, due to open in August, has already started.

JYSK Ireland's Head of Retail, Roni Tuominen said the company is planning to open more stores in Ireland over the coming years.

"It goes without saying that in this Covid-19 environment safety needs to come first but with unemployment in Ireland at a record high we all need to help. I am delighted to say that all seven of our stores in Ireland have reopened and JYSK are still very much committed to our expansion strategy in Ireland and plan to have 20 stores across the country by the end of 2021, with roughly 200 new jobs being created," he said.
