Property investment fund Quanta Capital has appointed former AIB chief executive Michael Buckley as its Chairman to support its plans to double assets under management from €500m to over €1 billion in the next 12 months.

Michael Buckley is a senior advisor to a number of Irish-owned companies and is also on the board of the Bon Secours Hospital Group.

He was CEO of AIB from 2001 to 2005 and is currently Chairman of KKR Alternative Investment Managers and of KKR Credit Advisers (Ireland).

Quanta's portfolio includes 3 million square feet of logistics assets and 500,000 square feet of offices, including Shelbourne House in Dublin 4 and office blocks in Dublin City, ParkWest, Cork and Galway.

As well as its Irish assets, Quanta is exploring opportunities in both the Spanish and UK markets where it has offices in London and Madrid. It anticipates deploying capital in both countries over the next 24 months.

Meanwhile, Linda Hickey, former Director of Corporate Broking at Goodbody Stockbrokers, has also joined the company's advisory board as a non-executive director.
