Aldi said it is planning to open a new store in Shannon in Co Clare as part of its €160m Irish store network investment programme.
The new store will be located close to the town centre at Airport Road and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2023.
A planning application for the 1,315 square metre store along with an additional retail unit has been submitted to Clare County Council.
Aldi said the development of the new store will see a substantial investment into the local area, with up to 80 jobs being created during the construction period and 20 permanent positions when it opens.
Adam Ward, Regional Managing Director at Aldi, said the retailer was very excited to be coming to Shannon and said that the company has a strong commitment to Co Clare, operating four stores in the county.
