EBS has said it will refund in full any unpaid charges relating to items presented on EBS MoneyManager and EBS Instant Access accounts during the months of March and April.

It said the unpaid charge to be refunded is applied when there is insufficient funds in a customer's account for a payment to be processed.

The lender said the initiative recognises that its customers impacted by Covid-19 need time to make alternative arrangements with the originators of direct debits, including utility companies, and or to apply for a payment holidays on their mortgages.

"Refunds will be applied automatically in the coming days for all unpaid charges applied during March 2020. Refunds for April charges will be applied by May 5," EBS said.

"We have deployed a number of solutions to support our customers impacted by Covid-19 over the past number of weeks," commented Paul Butler, Commercial Director at EBS.

"This is a further step as we continue to review customer supports as the situation evolves. Customers can keep up to date with our supports on our dedicated Covid-19 hub     https://www.ebs.ie/covid19,"  he added.
