A bakery business in Dublin has fully reopened and rehired its nine staff on a full-time basis after it saw a big uptick in business following coverage of its plight on RTÉ's Six One News earlier this month.
Jo’s Absolute Nutrition makes healthy snacks and treats at its bakery in Rathcoole and had been supplying them to shops and food outlets around the country prior to the coronavirus emergency.
But it was forced to lay-off five staff, its four other employees had moved to part-time working and it had stopped production after the introduction of restrictions to stem the spread of Covid-19 led to the closure of cafes, juice bars and other outlets it supplied.
The company’s online store remained open though and it continued to supply its existing stock to retail clients.
Its story was featured in a report on RTÉ’s Six One News on April 8 and following this, the company saw a significant pick up in its business.
It also secured a new national listing with a large retailer, which it will begin supplying in the coming weeks.
As a result, all staff have been rehired on a full-time basis and the bakery reopened last Tuesday.
"We are happy once we are busy," said Jo Davey who founded the company with her husband James.
