Social Entrepreneur schemes deadline extended

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland has extended the deadline for applications to its support programmes to next Tuesday, April 14th.

Up to 60 early-stage projects will be included in its Ideas Academy, where recipients will receive training and mentoring to take their projects from idea to fruition.

A further eight places are to be offered on its Impact Programme, which is targeted at high-potential social entrepreneurs.

The 11 month accelerator programme includes €20,000 in direct funding as well as non-financial support across a range of areas.

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland was forced to abandon some of its marketing events for the programmes as the Covid-19 restrictions on movement came into force.

They've been conducting the sessions online instead with panel discussions and question and answer webinars on various social media platforms.

"Now more than ever we need those who have the courage, insight and ambition to put forward a solution to a social problem, and act on it," Darren Ryan, CEO of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland said.

"The uncertainty we find ourselves in with the current pandemic requires those who will stand up for the vulnerable and find innovative ways to solve social problems."

Applications must be submitted by noon on Tuesday.
