Fyffes chairman David McCann said his company has "sufficient" fresh fruit stocks on hand - and in the pipeline - to ensure that Irish consumers can continue to enjoy a healthy diet at this time.

Mr McCann also praised the Government, its team of medical advisors and health service workers for the reassurance they have given to people and the manner in which the Covid-19 issue is being managed here.

He made his comments as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited Fyffes' premises in Swords in North County Dublin today.
