Fáilte Ireland's chief executive Paul Kelly has said the impact of the coronavirus is "catastrophic" for the tourism industry.

Speaking on Morning Ireland, Mr Kelly said the industry is first and foremost responding on public health grounds.

But from an economic view, he said revenue has "all but stopped and it is looking that way for the next couple of months."

Mr Kelly said that Fáilte Ireland had submitted a range of packages of support to the Government that are being looked at.

"Everything is on the table. There is a sense that was conveyed to us by Government that they don't want to make it any harder on businesses than it already is," he stated.

He said the second issue of concern is around employment protection.
