The unemployment rate stood at 4.8% in February, unchanged from the previous month, the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
The rate was down from 5% a year ago as the economy approaches full employment, where just about everyone who wants a job has one.
The CSO said the seasonally adjusted number of people who were unemployed stood at 120,100 in February, up marginally from 119,700 in January.
On an annual basis, the CSO said there was an annual increase of 200 in the seasonally adjusted number of people without a job.
Today's figures show that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for men stood at 5% in February, down from 5.3% the same month last year, while the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for women was 4.6%, up from 4.5% in February 2019.
Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate fell to 11.4% in February from 11.5% in January.
