Business group Ibec has said that employers will be examining practical, sensible and sensitive ways to enable employees, who may be affected in some way by COVID-19, to take time off, work flexibly or work remotely.
Ibec director Maeve McElwee said this will be very unique to each individual and organisation.
She said that in certain circumstances, working remotely may not be possible and employers will have to negotiate how leave must be taken.

In these circumstances, she said, annual leave may have to be a consideration.
Meanwhile, a secondary school in the east of the country is beginning a two-week shutdown as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.
The decision to close the school was taken after one of its students tested positive for coronavirus, becoming the first case of the infection to be diagnosed in the Republic.
The National Public Health Emergency Team said all pupils and teachers were being asked to restrict their movements until the end of the incubation period.
