The founder of Green Property, Stephen Vernon, has been named Ireland's National Philanthropist of the Year.
The award was given to Mr Vernon in recognition of his work over many years in assisting community groups, helping charitable causes and giving back to society.
The awards are organised by The Community Foundation for Ireland to recognise and celebrate extraordinary leadership and generosity in the area of philanthropy.
"Whilst acknowledging that many people who give back prefer to do so in a low profile and anonymous way, we see the need for positive role models to create a ripple effect of generosity throughout Ireland," said Tina Roche, Chief Executive of The Community Foundation for Ireland
Also recognised at today’s awards was Adrienne Stack.
She received the Local Philanthropist of the Year for her work in setting up Hugh’s House in memory of her son Hugh and in support of other families with very sick children.
Vodafone Ireland also received an award for their contributions to the ISPCC, who nominated them.
Since 2000, The Community Foundation for Ireland has disbursed grants of over €50m, including over €8m in 2019 alone.
