The construction industry is eyeing growth of 10% this year, according to a new survey by engineering group Aecom.

The survey also identified a number of challenges facing the sector such as lack of government planning (47%) and funding to large-scale infrastructure projects (43%).

Respondents to the survey also reported an increased focus on climate change, with 60% seeing it as a critical factor in their business.

John O'Regan, director of Aecom, said that major projects have transformed the country in recent years, delivering a higher quality of life domestically and making it more competitive internationally - these include Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport and the Luas.
