Belfast music legend, Van Morrison's main entertainment firm last year recorded pre-tax profits of £1.39m.

New accounts for Morrison's Exile Productions Ltd show the 74-year old singer/songwriter enjoyed another stellar year in the 12 months to the end of April.

The £1.39m pre-tax profit recorded in the 12 months to the end of April last is a 61% drop on the pre-tax profits of £3.63m recorded in the prior 12 months.

The £3.63m pre-tax profits followed pre-tax profits of £5.76m for 2017.

The firm recorded a post tax profit of £873,475 for the past year after paying corporation tax of £516,982.

The new accounts filed by Exile Productions Ltd to the Companies House in the UK show that accumulated profits increased from £6.984m to £7.653m at the end of April.

During the same period, the firm's cash pile increased by £1.67m from £4.47m to £6.14m while the money owed to the firm by debtors decreased from £4.188 to £2.2m.

The abridged accounts for the Morrison firm don't reveal the revenues recorded by the firm during the year.

Knighted in 2016 for his musical achievements and services to tourism and charitable causes in Northern Ireland, Morrison's output shows no sign of slowing down as he has just celebrated the release of Three Chords And The Truth.

The album was released on November 29th and includes a duet with The Righteous Brothers' Bill Medley  -Fame Will Eat the Soul.

The singer-songwriter added to  his coffers over the past year with a busy touring schedule and two releases, You're Driving me Crazy and The Prophet Speaks last year.

Last February, Morrison was performing at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and followed up with gigs in London  in March and in Chicago in April.

Last March, Van Morrison released a deluxe edition of his acclaimed 1997 album, 'The Healing Game'.

The intensely private Morrison has received widespread acclaim over his long career including six Grammy Awards, a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, being inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
