Glass bottle and metal container firm Ardagh has appointed former British Chancellor Philip Hammond to its board as a non-executive director and as a member of the company's audit committee.
A member of the UK parliament from 1997, he held a range of ministerial offices, most recently serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2016 to 2019.
Before that he served as Foreign Secretary (2014-2016), Defence Secretary (2011-2014) and Transport Secretary (2010-2011).
Just last week, Mr Hammond said he would not be standing at the forthcoming election in the UK next month.
Mr Hammond had the whip removed by Boris Johnson after voting to block a no-deal Brexit and he was not one of the 10 Tories to be reinstated before the UK general election announcement.
Ardagh also said today that Shaun Murphy has been appointed to its board as an executive director.
Mr Murphy had joined Ardagh as chief operating officer in September.
