The chief executive of IDA Ireland, Martin Shanahan, has joined the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School for a five-year appointment as an Adjunct Full Professor.
Mr Shanahan will undertake the role on a pro-bono basis and will receive no remuneration for his work.
He will give a limited number of lectures to students on topics such as industrial policy, Irish competitiveness, investment decision making, strategy development and leading and managing through change.
In a statement, the business school said that Mr Shanahan brings a wealth of international business and national policy experience to the role.
He will offer students a unique perspective on the country's industrial development, economic competitiveness and attractiveness to foreign direct investors and will also offer insight into the strategic, decision-making processes of global, multinational companies, it added.
