Agricultural technology continues to unlock data for farmers to help boost production.

Two AgTech start-ups, who have developed smart technology that improves management practices on farms, have been showing their wares at the National Ploughing Championships in Fenagh, Co Carlow.

Martin Minchin, from InTouchGo, says his technology uses real time analysis of milk production and feeding data to predict a farmer's projected monthly milk value.

He explains that the technology delivers quick and easy insights into how a farm is performing each day.

TJ Cummins, from HeatCalving.com, explains that his company's tiny 7-gram sensor tag on a cow's tail sends text and email alerts two hours before calving, thus ensuring a safe delivery.

The technology can also detect a cow's temperature which can improve on milk yield and money, he added.
