The Central Bank is launching a series of video explainers today, explaining what it actually does and why it does it. 

The Central Bank said the series is designed to serve as an education tool for the public and it aims to highlight the bank's work in an engaging, easy-to-understand and entertaining way.

At least six videos in the eries which will be published at four to six week intervals over the coming months. 

The videos will explain, amongst other things, what the phrase "regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland" actually means and how the Central Bank of Ireland is funded.

The first video in this new series sees the Central Bank take a call from an economics class in Limerick who are curious to know what the bank does.
