British online fashion group Boohoo has confirmed that it has made an offer to acquire the online business of rival brands Karen Millen and Coast.

The company has been reportedly lining up a pre-pack administration for the British chain and its sister brand, which both operate at a number of stores in Ireland.

Boohoo did not specify if the potential deal involves any plans for the two retailers' physical stores.

Deloitte has been appointed as adminstrator to Karen Millen.

If an acquisition is completed, it would secure the future for the two women's fashion brands, but it could cost hundreds of high street jobs in UK retail.
