Irish entertainment retailer Golden Discs has reported an increase in profit for 2018, driven by continued growth in vinyl sales.
The company recorded a turnover of €13.2m in 2018, returning a profit of €192k, up from almost €174k in 2017.
It opened new stores in Navan, Kilkenny, Limerick and Dublin during 2018, with plans in place for two more openings next month.
It says the growth is driven by a 40% increase in vinyl sales.
"The vinyl renaissance and renewed interest in physical product shows no signs of abating," Golden Discs' Chief Executive Stephen Fitzgerald said.
"Ownership is an issue for many music fans. Consumers want to browse and shop physical product," he added.
The family-owned company also reported growth in its online business and says it will launch a new app and loyalty program in the coming months.
It says performance is in line with forecasts despite the slow-down in the retail sector and it expects continued growth into the Christmas period.
Golden Discs has traded in Ireland since 1962.
