Irish digital ticket delivery company Tixserve has secured a flagship contract with England's Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Twickenham Stadium.
Tixserve is based at the Maynooth University campus.
Its technology enables its clients to extend end-to-end control over ticket distribution, regulating authorised ticket exchange and resale, while also offering digital content marketing and commerce opportunities.
The deal with the RFU follows a competitive tendering process and extensive trials with full system testing at numerous events.
Tixserve said that unlike paper ticketing which can lead to fraud, touting, high costs and limited data capture, its secure digital solution enables real-time engagement with fans, contextual ticket-based content.
It will also allow the RFU and its stadium sponsors to address new digital marketing and commerce opportunities.
Tixserve's managing director and co-founder Pat Kirby said the company was excited by the scale of opportunity of working with the RFU.
"The momentum of this success has already opened up business development opportunities not just in the UK and Ireland but in Europe and the USA," Mr Kirby added.
The RFU's commercial officer, Simon Massie-Taylor, said the deal was an important strategic agreement for the RFU as more and more fans now expect the convenience of being able to use their mobile devices to access events.
He said the new service will greatly enhance the customer experience at Twickenham Stadium.
