The 5-star Druids Glen hotel and golf resort in Co Wicklow has been bought by the Neville Hotel Group for €45 million.

The property, first opened in 1995, had been on the market since last year, when it was put up for sale by the three family consortium which owned it.

It consists of a 349 acre site, 145 bedrooms and suites, a spa and health club, eight conference and event rooms, and a restaurant that can seat up to 160.

The property underwent a €9 million investment of its suites, bars and lobby area last year.

The new owners, who already own three other hotels, will take over the running of the resort from Monday.

Neville Group already run The Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, The Tower Hotel in Waterford City, and The Kilkenny River Court Hotel.
