Dole Food Company, the fruit and veg distributor 45% owned by Total Produce, has sold its Saba Fresh Cuts salads arm to a Norweigan firm.

The sale of the Saba business was a condition necessary for the European Commission’s approval of the purchase by Total Produce of the Dole stake in July.

Saba Fresh Cuts AB has a production facility in Helsingborg Sweden, while Saba Fresh Cuts OY has a production facility in Espoo Finland.

Both produce washed and ready-to-eat salads.

The purchase by BAMA International is expected to close in the first quarter of next year, subject to European Commission approval.

By lunchtime, Total Produce shares were trading down slightly on the news.
