Guaranteed Irish, the organisation that champions homegrown and international businesses in Ireland, is hosting some of its members at "Gifted: The Contemporary Craft and Design Fair" at the RDS this weekend.

The event is one of the biggest gift markets in Ireland, featuring hundreds of artists and craftspeople showcasing thousands of unique Irish made products. Business is up on last year's fair, and exhibitors are looking forward to a profitable few days in the lead-up to Christmas.

Bríd O'Connell is CEO of Guaranteed Irish. "People are careful with their money, they want to buy quality and when they 'Guaranteed Irish' or the product coming from Ireland, they associate it with quality. There is a different level of a buyer here; very discerning and very much thought out in terms of choosing something more bespoke, a little bit different," Ms O'Connell said.

She said corporate members of Guaranteed Irish are supporting local communities and local jobs by buying from small craft businesses. "Coming up to Christmas, they purchase corporate gifts from Guaranteed Irish craftmakers and gift producers so it's a great way to say, 'Look we're supporting you, you're supporting us'," Ms O'Connell said.

When multi-nationals and small business work together, everybody does well, and so the economy does well, the CEO of Guaranteed Irish added.
