Intel has announced a partnership in Dublin with Europe's biggest co-working and digital innovation network.

Talent Garden is officially opening its newest campus today, which is based at Dublin City University.

Intel, which has been diversifying into areas like artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things in recent years, says it intends to develop an incubator programme at the facility.

Davide Dattoli, CEO and founder of Talent Garden, explained that the Talent Garden initiative works by putting all the best talents in digital together in the same space.

"They are empowered by staying together. In the digital sector, you need connections. We create a physical space where we bring together 3,500 innovators in eight different countries."


He described the facility as bringing all tech ecosystems together, encapsulating all spheres of entrepreneurship from start-up companies right through to multinationals such as BMW, Google and Cisco.

"We are launching a partnership in Dublin with Intel that will see the creation of the first Artificial Intelligence innovation lab. We will try to put together their researchers with external start ups working in this area to try to create collaboration between the two worlds."

Davide Dattoli said Talent Garden had chosen Dublin over London for the location of this facility as Ireland was an important reference country for US companies in Europe and that position was elevated as Brexit approached.

"Ireland will be most important English speaking country in the EU, so it's very important to be here to try to connect all tech companies to the rest of Europe."

Talent Garden Dublin will be the first facility of its kind developed in collaboration with a University.

Mr Dattoli said the move would go some way towards providing companies, both large and small, with the digital skills competency that they now demand.

"55% of top executives in Ireland are searching for courses for their employees in the tech space. About 30% feel that their staff are not ready for the challenges of Artificial Intelligence and automation."
