DAA has appointed Ray Hernan as chief executive of its global travel retail business Aer Rianta International (ARI).

The former CEO of Bus Éireann will take up his new role in August.

Before joining Bus Éireann in late 2016, Ray Hernan held a number of executive roles in the retail sector, including CEO of Arnotts, director of finance with Selfridges in the UK, and chief financial officer at Brown Thomas. 

He also spent ten years as director of finance at Ryanair, and previously worked at IAWS, now Arytza.

ARI operates travel retail businesses in 12 countries including Bahrain, Canada, Cyprus, India, Ireland, Lebanon, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia. 

Its stores employ more than 3,800 people in Europe, North America, the Middle East, India, and Australasia and have a combined annual turnover of more than €1 billion.

DAA has also appointed Anthony Kenny as deputy CEO and chief financial officer of ARI. 

Mr Kenny is currently acting CEO of the company.
