C&C has said the recent warm weather and the soccer World Cup have helped to boost sales of its brands, including Bulmers cider.

In a trading update issued ahead of its AGM today, the drinks group said good early summer weather in Ireland has helped Bulmers return to moderate volume growth so far this year.

The company also said that since the introduction of Minimum Unit Pricing in Scotland on 1 May, consumer reaction has been broadly in line with the company's expectations.

It also said it continues to make progress in improving service levels and operational performance at Matthew Clark Bibendum, an independent distributor to the UK pub trade. It bought the group in April.

"Our new, experienced senior management team are all now in post and engaged in stabilising the business," it said.

C&C's chairman Brian Stewart is due to step down after eight years in the position at today’s AGM.

He is being replaced by  Stewart Gilliland, who joined the Board as a non-executive director in 2012.
