Vue International has agreed to buy the Showtime cinema group in Ireland and Cinema3D in Poland, expanding its offering to 228 sites and 1,989 screens across Europe.
The two Showtime cinemas are located in Ashbourne and in Limerick.
The Ashbourne site is the only cinema in the region and has six screens while the Limerick site has seven screens and is in the largest urban area in the south west of the country.
Vue operates in ten countries - Ireland, Poland, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Taiwan.
It said today's deal takes its UK & Ireland portfolio, Vue Entertainment, to 89 sites and 855 screens and the Poland & Baltics portfolio, Multikino, to 48 sites and 342 screens.
