The National Treasury Management Agency said today it raised €4 billion in a syndicated 15-year bond issue, which matures in May 2033.

The funds were raised at a yield of 1.319%.

The agency reported "strong and broad-based demand" for today's transaction and the total order book of over €12.5 billion included 190 individual accounts.

Today's syndicated issue is the second this year, after the NTMA raised €4 billion in 10-year debt in January. On that occasion, the bonds yielded 0.944%.

Yesterday, the NTMA nominated Barclays, Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, NatWest Markets and SG BIC as the joint lead managers of the issue.

With today's syndicated bond issue, the NTMA has issued €10.25 billion worth of bonds so far this year.

The NTMA's Director of Funding and Debt Management Frank O'Connor said the agency has now exceeded 60% of the mid-range of its target issuance of €14-€18 billion for the year.

"Today's transaction confirms that investor appetite for Irish bonds remains healthy and broad-based, enabling an increase in the transaction size to €4 billion. It further strengthens our funding position," Mr O'Connor added.

The NTMA is due to hold a bond auction on May 10 and a Treasury Bill auction on June 14 - subject to market conditions.
