Irish medical technology start up LetsGetChecked has raised $12m in funding from a group of investors led by Optum Ventures.
LetsGetChecked's technology allows consumers to access laboratory testing and self-testing from home.
The Dublin-based company, founded in 2014 by Irish entrepreneur Peter Foley, helps users access a range of tests including cancer screening, sexual health testing and fertility and hormone testing.
It connects end users with a network of medical professionals and laboratories through which they can have a doctor approve a test and get a test-kit dispatched to their homes.
In a statement alongside the funding announcement Peter Foley said the companay aimed to provide easier access to testing. "Individuals can change how and when they are diagnosed, leading to better clinical outcomes," he said.
The $12m funding round was led by the venture capital arm of health services company Optum and Chinese VC firm Qiming. LetsGetChecked said the money will be used grow the company, fuel development of its technology platform linking consumers to laboratories and expand its full clinical support team.
