Ryanair said it would launch its first routes to Ukraine later this year, rekindling a deal that it walked away from last July over alleged attempts to protect the market for Ukrainian competitors.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary announced the agreement at a briefing at Kiev's Boryspil airport today.
The new routes will start from October.
Ryanair said it will fly 10 routes from Kiev's Boryspil airport, while the western city of Lviv will see five new Ryanair routes.
The ten new Kiev routes are to Barcelona, Bratislava, Gdansk, Krakow, London Stansted, Poznan, Stockholm, Vilnius, Warsaw and Wroclaw.
The five new Lviv routes are to Dusseldorf, Krakow, London Stansted, Memmingen and Warsaw.
Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said Ryanair's entry to Ukraine is the most important event for the national airspace over the past 20 years.
"For Ukrainians, Ryanair's arrival brings about the opportunity to travel cheaply and safely. For the country, it means development of the aviation industry and the network of regional airports. For business, it points to a free and competitive market, with rules of fair play," the Minister said.
