Blue Insurance has reported a 19% increase in gross profit for 2017 on the back of another year of growth for the company.

The insurance provider, which provides travel, gadget, pet and wedding insurance, said its turnover rose to €37m last year. 

It noted that growth in Ireland stood at 20% and 16% in the UK, adding that despite the collapse in sterling due to Brexit, it continued to see "significant" growth in 2017. 

Blue Insurance said that 61% of its turnover exists in Ireland and 39% in the UK.

The company has grown every year since its inception in 2003 and its EBITDA also grew by 52% to €4.8m last year.

"With new innovative products planned for 2018, we are well on track to achieve further substantial growth in 2018," commented the company's managing director Ciaran Mulligan.
