Retail Excellence has confirmed that it is bidding to host the mid-year meeting of the Global Retail Council which is made up of international representative bodies from 30 countries around the world.
Forum for International Retail Association Executives is a group which was set up by the US retail representative body, the NRF, and aims to devise policies, solutions and strategies for dealing with challenges facing the industry worldwide.
If Retail Excellence win the bid it will host the meeting at its Retail Retreat, which will be held in Citywest Hotel on May 15 and 16.
This is the first time Retail Excellence has bid to host the Global Retail Council mid-year meeting. The group started its campaign at the recent NRF Big Retail Show in New York and has continued those efforts since. Retail Excellence is competing with Australia and Canada to welcome colleagues to Dublin in May.
Deputy Chief Executive of Retail Excellence, Lorraine Higgins said, "It is a wonderful opportunity to bring such a diverse gathering of retail executives from all corners of the globe to our country and showcase the brilliance of our retailers. There is also an opportunity for the group to see firsthand the opportunities that exist for their own members to expand their operations here".
