Fast food restaurant chain Supermac's will open 6 new outlets over the first half of 2018.

The expansion will bring to 114 the number of Supermac's outlets across Ireland. The company said the move will create 400 new jobs.

Three of the new Supermac's will be in Cork, one in Dublin and the others in Naas, Co Kildare and Donegal Town.

"We will be engaging in a major recruitment drive to get staff for these new openings," Supermac’s founder and mangaging director Pat McDonagh said.

Mr McDonagh said some of the new stores would be operated on a franchise basis.
