Agri-services group Origin Enterprises has bought Belgian based Pillaert-Mekoson Group for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered in Ghent, Pillaert-Mekoson provides standard and prescription fertilisers in Belgium and surrounding regions.

Its turnover for last year came to €35m and its earnings before interest, tax and depreciation is about €1.8m.

Origin said the deal is funded from its existing bank facilities and it expects the acquisition to enhance its earnings in the first full year of ownership.

Origin Enterprises chief executive Officer Tom O'Mahony said that Pillaert-Mekoson was an excellent strategic fit for the group.

"The acquisition will add further scale to the group's crop nutrition portfolios and will provide an important expansion into a new geography offering multi-channel access to farm with meaningful future growth potential," the CEO added.
