A specialist engineering firm in Limerick is taking on an additional 150 workers, which will double its workforce over the next five years.

H&MV Engineering specialises in the design and build of high-voltage electricity transmission and distribution systems for a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, utility providers, data centres and renewable energy.

The company already employs 150 people at its headquarters in Castletroy in Limerick.

H&MV has grown its business substantially in recent years, increasing its turnover from €7m two years ago to an expected €33m this year.

It has a presence in the UK, several countries in Europe, in India and South Africa and is expanding its staff to support further international business growth.

The company also runs its owns training centre with over 40 apprentices, and runs the only City and Guilds high voltage switching and operations course here.

The new positions include electrical apprentices, electricians, design engineers, project managers, skilled industry specialists and support staff.

PJ Flanagan, CEO of H&MV, said the company is working as the main contractor for major turnkey projects in Europe and it is "ambitiously" expanding into new markets and territories.

"We have a presence in Ireland, UK, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands and South Africa and plan to be operational in other countries in the near future," Mr Flanagan said.
