New figures from commercial property consultants CBRE Ireland show that over €2.5 billion was invested in Irish commercial real estate during the last 12 months.

CBRE said the sale of The Square shopping centre in Tallaght was the largest investment transaction signed in the last 12 month period.

Marie Hunt, executive director and head of research at CBRE Ireland, said that while a number of other transactions may yet sign before December 31, the outturn for the year to date is in excess of €2.5 billion.

"This represents a large volume of individual transactions although in the absence of delveraging activity and a lack of portfolio sales during 2017, the volume of investment spend is down compared to the extraordinary period between 2014 and 2016," Ms Hunt added.
